The RoHS Directive (Restriction of (the use of certain) Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic Equipment) describes the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The scope of this directive is limited to use in electrical and electronic equipment. Products used in other areas are not subject to the requirements of this directive.

The RoHS Directive regulates the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in which the content of the elements and compounds listed below does not exceed the respective current limit value in the homogeneous material:

  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Cadmium
  • Hexavalent chromium (Cr VI)
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
  • Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP)
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)
