The promotion of young talents in the area of industrial and product design has been a key issue for the VDID, the association of German Industrial Designers, for many years.
Every other year, the VDID presents the Newcomer‘s Award to exceptional projects and case studies from prospective industrial designers. The competition is open to all future product- or industrial designers who study in Germany, and marks a great start to their intended career.
MENTOR supports the VDID’s young talent promotion and thus again presents the themed special award “product integrated light”, which is awarded among the three main prizes. We’re very much looking forward to the work that will be submitted, and we’re very curious to learn about the designers’ ideas for innovative, light inspired, products.
Two years ago the award was presented to Thomas Theling for his concept of “Timelight”, a special, interactive floor lamp. This year’s award ceremony takes place in the context of the Interzum trade fair in Cologne, on 24 May 2019 in the course of the VDID conference IndustrialDesignDay.
